*Gossip Girl Watchers* Who is who?

HI!
I used to watch Gossip Girl, but that was the beginning of the first Season. I just started watching it and could only get a hold of Season 3 episodes 4&5. Now, I’m a little lost:
In episode 5 , Rufus and Lily get married.
Lily’s original family: Serena and Eric (her brother)
Rufus’s original family: Dan and Jenny
Is that right?
If so, why does Lily (serena’s mother) have Bass as the last name? Why is Serena’s van der Woodsen?
How are Serena and Chuck related and why didn’t Serena change her name if Lily did?
Who is Serena’s mom and dad?
How is Lily related to Chuck?
Now, Scott was Lily and Rufus’s child 20 years ago, when they dated each other. Was Scott adopted after Lily had him? Who did Lily and Rufus think was their child before they found out it was Scott?
I know it’s a lot of questions, but I think it should be pretty easy if you watched all of the episodes. Please help me.

Lily’s last name is Bass, because she ending up marrying Chuck Bass’ dad. That’s why Chuck is in their family now, and Serena obviously would not want to change her name is Bass. Chuck’s dad died, and that’s why they are not married anymore.
Yes, Lily and Rufus’ child was adopted, and when they went to look for him..they’re child’s adopted parents said he was dead. The reason why they said it was because, one of their kids really did die, and they didn’t want to go through something else.
Lily’s last name is Bass because at the end of season 1 she marries chuck’s father, Bart Bass. Serena’s last name was originally van der Woodson. So Chuck and Serena are step siblings. but Bart died in a car crash in Season 2.
Serena’s mom is lily but her dad left when she was young i think. She and Carter Baizen went searching for him between the 2nd and 3rd seasons but her father ignored her so she never got to see him. She tried to get his attention in season 3 episode 1 through paparazzi and the media.
Scott was Lily and Rufus’ child but before season 3 episode 5 they thought their child was Scott’s adopted brother who died in an accident. his name was Andrew and his parents lied to Lily and Rufus when they went looking for their child. They told them that the son that had died was theirs so that they would stop looking for Scott.
